Who are the people behind Funky Threadz?

Funky Threadz is a partnership between a dynamic mother & daughter duo, Barb & Kelli.

What started as a little hobby for Barb once she retired and closed her design studio has morphed over the past 13 plus years into a growing business! Starting with exhibiting at a couple small Michigan art/craft shows, it became evident that there was a customer base for the funky, whimsical clothing Barb was creating.

Encouraged by her family and friends, Barb continued to sew and Kelli joined her at the shows. Kelli was quickly enamored by the warm reception to the clothing and with Barb’s encouragement she began to create/sew as well.

Using 100% recycled materials and no patterns, every single item is a true one of a kind piece. The details make the difference, from contrast stitching to quality buttons/snaps to high quality materials – they take great pride in their work. The recycled materials come from thrift stores, fabric hunts and family/friends.

Fast forward to today, the duo is still sewing in their home studios and exhibiting at art/craft shows. When not on the road you can find the skirts and armwarmers in the Etsy shop. Experience has taught them that the whimsical tops and jackets are best sold when able to be tried on, so those items will not be listed in the shop.
